Debugging Tori Redding edition by Jason Ancona Literature Fiction eBooks

As I read Debugging Tori Redding I tried to unravel the complex structure that made Tori who she was. It was obvious that Tori isn't your average teen, but she never let that stop her! Jason Ancona tells Tori's story beautifully, and I felt like I was hearing it all from Tori herself. I suggest this book for older teens, fourteen and up, as it does deal with high school topics and themes not suitable for younger readers.

By far the most amazing aspect of Debugging Tori Redding is the voice in which it is told. Jason Ancona captured the essence of a teen perfectly in his writing. I can't express how much I felt as if Tori was telling me the whole story herself. Whether it is the smart-alec replies or the defiant thoughts, Tori is a teen through and through.

I also enjoyed that despite the seemingly careless attitude that Tori keeps up, there is much more to her. Once I peeled back all of the layers, I realized that Tori was struggling with a lot, even if she didn't always show it. Things weren't easy for Tori as she tried to build her club, deal with her best - and only - friend, a sudden love interest, and on top of all that, she had to figure out the extent of her brand new memory. This was quite evident as I neared the end of Debugging Tori Redding. Tori was slowly starting to give up hope and her trust in life.

The beginning of Debugging Tori Redding started off a little slow, but as the book progressed new variables were thrown in that had the story taking on new directions. At times it did feel as if the storyline was a bit all over the place, but in the end it was resolved beautifully. The ending was perfect, and it really brought me peace of mind.

It would have been interesting to see an explanation for Tori's enhanced mind. No reason was really given for the cause of Tori 2.0. In the story we know what triggered it, but not why it happened. I feel that this would have added more of an edge of science fiction to this book, which it didn't really need since it is more-so a contemporary novel. However, I think it would have been interesting to see how the story changed or played out because of this.

At the end of the day, Debugging Tori Redding is an inspiring read with real issues, the bonds of family, and new revelations about oneself all thrown in. Join Tori as she tries to discover who she truly is, while life throws the unexpected at her in, Debugging Tori Redding!

Debugging Tori Redding edition by Jason Ancona Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Debugging Tori Redding was an incredibly grabbing read. Mr. Ancona was able to create characters that are very realistic, and put them together into a story that never seems to stop. I think every emotion possible was touched through the story - from the empathy at the beginning over the loss of the mom, to the hope at the end that the Redding family would be able to begin healing. The ups and downs that Tori and her family experience were always in the background as they went through the grieving process in their own way, while the foreground story kept you engaged at all times.

Mr. Ancona was able to move Tori and friends and family from one storyline to the next seamlessly, Tori starting the NSF club, the kidnapping storyline, the family conflict, the father's health issues, Tori 2.0, Tori's breakthrough and life-changing hope at the end. And throughout all the above, the family falls apart yet somehow pulls itself back together. It gave me a feeling of hope at the end. The further into the story I got the more I was afraid I was watching a trainwreck called Tori, but was very pleasantly surprised how skillfully the story turned into something that allowed Tori to have such potential at the end. Very well written Mr. Ancona.
Debugging Tori Redding is the second book that I've read by Jason Ancona. When I was given the opportunity to review it, I was excited at the premise. A girl whose mind works like a computer? How amazing is that? I snuggled down into bed, picked up the book and started to read.

Let me tell you, I was so impressed at the depth behind Tori's character. She isn't just a high school student who takes issue with loose morals. She isn't even just a girl with a computer for a brain. No, Tori is so much more than that. Tori is the lost adolescent trying to find her place in the big scheme of things. She is the girl who has recently lost a parent and is struggling to live in a house fueled with testosterone. Coincidentally she is also that character who still isn't sure how she stands in the world of relationships. Simply put, she's all of us.

Story wise, although the book mainly revolves around Tori's home life and friendships there is a mystery hidden there. Girls have been going missing in her home town, and now it seems that her new found abilities can help solve the case. I admit that the mystery isn't the prominent focus of the story, but I do think that it added a nice variety to what the issues Tori has to face. It also happens to be part of the introspective process for her.

I've seen others write about their frustrations with Tori's attitude toward everything, because she can be so negative. It's true, she can be. However after reading carefully I began to realize that it is just Tori's defense mechanism. She comes from a family where the weak simply are not tolerated. Where testosterone rules and being a girl is difficult. Her father loves her for sure, but he doesn't know how to interact with the female side of her. What better way to get rid of that awkwardness than to hide the female side of you? I loved Tori for the simple fact that she is human like the rest of us.

Rich with family interactions, packed with snide humor, and filled with undertones on society and teenagers as a whole, Debugging Tori Redding is definitely a book that I enjoyed! I highly recommend you give it, and Tori, a chance. I daresay I look forward to seeing what else Jason Ancona has in store for us!
